The creator of ATMAT is Dr. Rosita Arvigo. A naprapath and herbalist, Rosita moved to Belize with her family in the 1980s to homestead in the jungle near the Guatemalan border. During this time, she became the mentee of the renown Mayan Shaman Don Elijio Panti and student to the expertly skilled local Belizean midwife and herbalist Hortence Robinson. Combining the knowledge of traditional medicine gained from her mentors with her knowledge of western anatomy and physiology, Rosita has created a modality that connects the profound healing power of traditional medicine with the modern world.
ATMAT has become known for its unique emphasis on assessing and recentering the uterus. This focus was passed down from Don Elijio who believed that a woman's life would only be in balance if her uterus was in the correct place. While the Arvigo Technique has become known for its ability to support fertility and general reproductive health in women, it is also proven to be beneficial for digestive health, urinary health, the reproductive health of men and emotional well being. For a more complete list of symptoms the Arvigo Technique may improve, please see list below. For more information on the Arvigo Technique or Rosita's work please see ATMAT website. “The uterus is the women’s center. If her uterus is not in proper position and good health, nothing in her life will be right. She will be as out of balance as her uterus.” |
